On Sunday, May 26, 2013, Daly City Vice Mayor David Canepa teamed up with local DJ and legend Keith O and Daly City native Melody Ybona Gawliu to bring our community the Second Annual Asian American Cultural Festival.
The Asian American Cultural Festival is a family-friendly festival organized by Over the Fog, whose mission is to foster understanding and appreciation of all aspects of Asian American culture in Daly City and the greater San Mateo County area.
“The month of May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month and this is our way of celebrating with and bringing together our community,” said Gawliu.
At the festival there was free bowling, a Kids Zone for kids to play games and win prizes, arts & crafts booths, exhibition booths, and a food zone sponsored by Grub Crawl. Foodies came hungry because we featured the following food trucks: Frozen Kuhsterd, Adam’s Grub Truck and Hongry Kong. In addition, there was live entertainment held on the Allied Waste Performance Stage.
Gawliu said, “Everyone is invited to this free event so we hope you will spread the word to your friends, families, neighbors, co-workers, etc.”
The Asian American Cultural Festival sends their appreciation and thanks to sponsors Classic Bowling Center, Allied Waste, and Grub Crawl for their very generous donations.
